Dirty John Season 2 gets a supersized June premiere date

Dirty John Season 2 will make its premiere on the USA Network in June. Season 2 will focus on the Betty Broderick story and star Amanda Peet.

The Bravo series that focused on the story of Debra Newell and John Meehan — played by Connie Britton and Eric Bana —  will return on a new network very soon. Dirty John Season 2 will tell the story of Betty Broderick and star Amanda Peet and Christian Slater.

According to TVLine, Dirty John Season 2 will debut its “supersized” premiere on Tuesday, June 2 at 9/8c on USA Network with a special two-hour season premiere. On June 9, the show will make its timeslot premiere at 10 p.m.

For those unfamiliar with the Betty Broderick story, it’s about the real true crime case of Elizabeth Anne Broderick who was sentenced to 32-years-to-life in prison for two counts of second-degree murder after killing her ex-husband and his new wife. Peet will play Betty on the show and Slater will play her husband-turned-ex, Dan Broderick III.

According to TVLine, the season will follow Betty’s struggle to deal with her husband after she spent years sacrificing and struggling to support him while he went to medical and law school. Things come to a boiling point when Dan hires a beautiful woman named Linda to work for him.

Season 2 will skip between the 1960s and the ’80s to chronicle their marriage and its swift downfall that resulted in a double homicide.

The actual case was covered extensively by the media. There have been a few books written on the Brodericks and even a made-for-TV movie.
