Tywin Lannister did not love everything from the Game of Thrones finale.

Considering how universally hated the series finale of HBO’s hit fantasy series Game of Thrones was, it is not that surprising that even some of the show’s stars were not happy with the way things went down.

Previously, stars like Emilia Clarke and even Nikolaj Coster-Waldau suggested they were not entirely happy with the ending. Coster-Waldau joked that he would have donated to a petition demanding HBO remake the final season of the show.

It turns out that Charles Dance, who played Tywin Lannister for several seasons of the show, would also have been open to signing a petition had he seen one before.

“Well if there was a petition, I would sign it,” the actor told Pop Culture.

Why would Dance have signed the Game of Thrones petition?

While Dance had plenty of kind words to say about show creators D.B. Weiss and Dave Benioff, even admitting that he continued watching the show long after his character was killed off, he also confessed to being underwhelmed by the finale.

He said he felt the series was “fantastic television” and that Weiss and Benioff truly raised the bar for screenwriting and storytelling.

The previous caliber of the show, before its final season, is what made the resulting ending feel so devastating to many fans who expected something on par with the earlier installments.

Dance added that while the series finale did satisfy plenty of people, it also disappointed a lot, and he was, unfortunately, in “the latter camp.”

It does not sound like Dance outright hated the end of the show but just did not think it lived up to the expectations he had come to expect from Game of Thrones, especially after being part of it for several seasons — arguably the best seasons of the bunch.

The viral petition has accused an astounding 1.8 million signatures, which proves how reviled the ending of Games of Thrones really was.
