By Mads Lennon
HBO’s critically-acclaimed series Watchmen dominated the 2020 Television Critics Association Awards, all but guaranteeing the show an Emmys sweep.
Damon Lindelof’s acclaimed miniseries Watchmen, based on the iconic graphic novel by Alan Moore, seems like a lock to sweep the upcoming 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards. The series recently won four trophies at the annual Television Critics Association Awards (TCAs), TVLine reported.
The wins included Program of the Year, Outstanding New Program, Outstanding Limited Series/Movie, and Outstanding Individual Achievement in Drama for Regina King. The TCAs preface the upcoming Emmy Awards which are slowly airing this week with the main night debuting on Sunday, Sept. 20.
Watchmen is nominated for 26 awards, more than any other show.
Does Watchmen deserve all of these awards?

Everywhere you look critics are singing Watchmen‘s praised. Does it deserve all of this attention and subsequent awards? Most critics agree that Watchmen is tremendous television, but others feel the series is manipulative, especially in the way it handles the portrayal of cops and authority.
However, one thing no one can deny is just how timely the series is in its exploration of the intersection between power, authority, and racial inequality — and sometimes timeliness is what wins out above all.
Aside from Watchmen, what other shows won TCAs?
The beloved Schitt’s Creek won multiple awards at the TCAs, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Individual Achievement in Comedy for Catherine O’Hara while Succession took home the award for Outstanding Drama Series. All in all, it seems like HBO is retaining its crown as the king of premium cable, even without Game of Thrones.
Additional awards include the Career Achievement Award, which went to long-time Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, and the Heritage Award, which was given to the original Star Trek series.
