She-Hulk has been found! The Disney Plus and Marvel show has cast its lead actor. More details are yet to be revealed, but here’s what we know so far.

Orphan Black actor Tatiana Maslany is set to take on the lead role in the Disney Plus and Marvel TV series, She-Hulk, Deadline reports. The Marvel show was announced during D23 in 2019 but little news has been shared regarding the series, until now.

Maslany’s casting comes on the heels of behind-the-scenes updates from Disney and Marvel about the show.

Kat Coiro recently signed on as an executive producer and director of the pilot episode of She-Hulk. Coiro’s credits include TV hits such as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Single Parents, and Dead to Me.

Jessica Gao—best known for her writing on Rick and Morty—has been confirmed as the showrunner for She-Hulk. Gao will also be handling writing duties and will serve as an executive producer for the series.

According to Deadline’s sources, it has been confirmed that Maslany will take on the lead role in the show. However, it is important to note that no confirmation has been received from Disney, Marvel, or Maslany.

But following Deadline’s announcement, Mark Ruffalo, who plays Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, tweeted a welcome message to Maslany.

We can assume that Ruffalo’s message verifies Maslany’s involvement in the project but fans should still wait until a definitive statement from the actor and the production houses is released.

She-Hulk: Who is the Marvel character?

She-Hulk is the superhero form of Jennifer Walters, Esq, a well-regarded lawyer in the Marvel Comics universe. Following a blood transfusion received from her cousin, Banner, Walters begins to exhibit similar powers as the Hulk.

Unlike the Hulk, who is powerful but not very human, Walters is able to control her emotions and remains true to her personality even in Hulk form.

While her superpowers have always been a major draw for the character, She-Hulk’s humor and her alter-ego Walters’ work as a lawyer, has made her the memorable and fan-favorite character she is today.

The She-Hulk show will most likely balance both aspects of the character, and with Emmy Award-winning Maslany is the lead, Walters will get a great deal of depth.

While Maslany’s acting abilities are undeniable, many fans have remarked that she doesn’t quite fit the physicality of the character. One can assume that Maslany will play the Walters role while She-Hulk will be created using the motion-capture CGI used on Ruffalo in the MCU.

Despite the lack of confirmation at the moment, it seems that multiple sources believe that Maslany has bagged the role. Not only is it exciting for fans to see a beloved character cast, but it is also proof that the show is going ahead.

She-Hulk is one of a number of Marvel and Disney Plus shows slated for release, including WandaVision, slated for release in late 2020, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki.
