No matter how much one likes to hate on the final season of Game of Thrones for ruining the show’s legacy or what it had built for the past 9 years, Game of Thrones still remains a stepping stone in the landscape of TV, one that is still to this day insanely popular and looked back upon.

Even as someone who doesn’t believe that Game of Thrones has any rewatchability as a classic because of the final season, it’s still hard to deny the fact that the show is still humongous and will be for a long time.

Industry’s most trusted expert when it comes to demand data for all platforms from all markets, Parrot Analytics, recently held their Global TV Demand Awards for 2021, and much to anyone’s surprise the award for the Most In-Demand TV Series in the World went to Game of Thrones for the second time in a row. Game of Thrones came on top of the likes of Vikings, Spongebob, My Hero Academia and Rick and Morty. Parrot Analytics has also stated that the show was 91 times more in demand than an average show.

Game of Thrones continued to grow rapidly in the pandemic.

Even the data from HBO Now suggests that Game of Thrones grew its audience by 50% during the first month of the pandemic. It was also recognized as the Most Pirated TV Show of 2020 above the likes of The Walking Dead and The Mandalorian and was also the 8th most discussed tv series across the world in 2020 ahead of ongoing shows and trending topics like Tiger King and Stranger Things. HBO has had hits like Succession and Lovecraft Country last year but even with all that and in amongst HBO’s all-time legacy shows like The Wire and The Sopranos, Game of Thrones still remains the most searched show from the cable giant.

Despite what any article on the internet might say about the series or whatever someone claims, it is still very apparent that the show is still insanely popular all around the world. And clearly, with the three spinoffs and sequels reportedly in works alongside the anticipated House of the Dragon series and even a Broadway play, HBO certainly would ride on the show’s success until it either burns or finds a worthy successor.
