The Morning Show season 2 trailer, release date, synopsis, cast and more
By Taylor Gates
The Morning Show Season 2 is premiering soon—and if the new trailer is any indication, it’s about to be more explosive than ever. One of Apple TV+‘s first forays into scripted series, The Morning Show racked up a bevy of accolades after its season one run, including several Emmy, Critics Choice, and SAG awards and nominations.
Read on to learn the premise of the show’s sophomore season, the new (and returning) faces you can expect to see, and where and when you can watch it when it premieres.
What’s The Morning Show Season 2 about?
Season one of The Morning Show followed an array of characters as they worked on one of the most highly rated news shows in the nation—all while trying to navigate how to handle a sexual misconduct scandal as it rocked the fabric of their workplace. Among these people were veteran host Alex Levy, small-time-reporter-turned-household-name Bradley Jackson, and disgraced anchor Mitch Kessler.
Season one ended with an explosive moment wherein, tired of all the coverups and politics, Alex and Bradley went live on air to expose everything happening behind the scenes at the network. It was a big cliffhanger—one we can’t wait to see resolved in season two.
Not only will season two examine the fallout of this, but it will also tackle the themes of COVID-19 and the fight for marginalized communities to get their time in the spotlight.
Who makes up The Morning Show Season 2 cast?
The cast of The Morning Show has some heavy hitters. Alex Levy is played by Jennifer Aniston, while Reese Witherspoon takes on the role of Bradley Jackson. (The two also serve as executive producers.)
There’s also Steve Carell as Mitch Kessler in a much darker, more dramatic turn than lovable Micheal Scott. Marcia Gay Harden will reprise her role as journalist Maggie Brener, and you can expect to see lovebirds Claire (Bel Powley) and Yanko (Nestor Carbonell) again as well. Daniel (Desean Terry) and Mia (Karen Pittman) look like they may be fighting to get a bigger piece of pie this year, and Cory (Billy Crudup) and Chip (Mark Duplass) will no doubt continue their power struggle.
In addition to our returning cast, there are some exciting new additions, including Julianna Margulies, Holland Taylor, Greta Lee, and Hassan Minhaj. There’s no doubt in our minds that they’re going to shake up the already fragile status quo at our favorite news station.
