Bridgerton fans were quite beside themselves when it was announced that Simon, the Duke of Hastings, played by the talented Rege-Jean Page would not be returning for Season 2. While the hit Netflix period piece series has yet to announce when Season 2 will premiere, we knew this much: No Duke of Hastings.

Before we start weeping again over the absence of his compelling character, there has been a new development…possibly. Page, when speaking to British GQ about the series, might have said without saying that the Duke of Hastings will return.

On top of that Shonda Rhimes, executive producer for Bridgerton, confirmed that Page was signed for one season but was offered reportedly $50,000 per cameo in Season 2. So does this mean that Page will return for Season 2 for cameo purposes?

When you think about it, his character was dear friends with Anthony Bridgerton whom Season 2 will be mainly focused on as his character is going to be searching for love. Does this mean that Simon will be there to help him?

Let’s take a moment to realize that Simon, the Duke of Hastings may be returning for Bridgerton Season 2 after all!

Simon had married Anthony’s sister Daphne and together they welcomed a son by the end of the first season. Would Simon perhaps instead confide in Daphne asking about her brother’s progress in finding his true love?

What can we take home from this? That while Simon will not be a reoccurring character doesn’t mean we won’t see him at all next season. If he does make an appearance, what will he be doing? Who knows maybe Page will surprise us!

But what do you think?
