In a surprising turn of events, The Walking Dead spinoff Isle of the Dead gets a new name. As Negan and Maggie make their way toward a walker-ridden New York City, complete with rats and a zip-lining transportation system, they’ll also be facing a new name for their show.

EW shared the news that the six-episode show airing sometime next year will now be called, The Walking Dead: Dead City. Honestly, it just doesn’t have the same ring to it like ‘Isle’ did.

We are curious if future Walking Dead spinoffs will have similar titles, as was The Walking Dead: World Beyond. We have yet to determine why Negan and Maggie are teaming up, but then again stranger things have happened on the AMC series.

From shared footage of filming thus far from fans, the two continue to have their ups and downs. We wouldn’t be surprised if there is a factor that sets them up for this mission accidentally.

The Walking Dead spinoff Isle of the Dead gets a new name.

But we still have hope that the two will come to grips with the fact that they are both similar and different. As well as be reminded that their pasts need to be removed from the equation if they are to survive.

Alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie), the cast includes Aixa Kendrick, Gaius Charles, Mahina Napoleon, Željko Ivanek, Jonathan Higginbotham, Karina Ortiz, Caleb Reese Paul and Charlie Solis. The Walking Dead returns for the final time on October 2, wrapping up season 11 part 3 and the exemplary series.

As we continue to cover the spinoff, we’ll be using the new name The Walking Dead: Dead City. Do you have any theories about the spinoff or the name change?
