Ke Huy Quan joins the cast of Marvel’s Loki season 2
By Joel Leonard
It looks like the cast of Loki is getting a little bit bigger. It’s been announced that Ke Huy Quan will be joining the cast in the second season of the Marvel series.
Ke Huy Quan will reportedly be playing a TVA archivist in the series. For those who don’t remember, the TVA, or Time Variance Authority, is a bureaucratic organization introduced in the first season of Loki.
It was designed to make sure the timeline stayed on the proper path and that any possible variations to the timeline were quickly taken care of.
A triumphant comeback
Quan, who was originally best known for his childhood performances in The Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, has recently shot back into the limelight with his award-winning performance in the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once. Quan has received massive amounts of critical praise for the movie, including winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars this year.
While he hasn’t said much about his upcoming involvement in the MCU, he has stated that he felt like the upcoming season was really good. “I can’t wait for the fans to see it. If you’re a Loki fan, I think we will make you very happy.”
Fans have actually already gotten a chance to glimpse the upcoming season of Loki (incoming spoilers for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania).
One of the post credits scenes for the movie appeared to be taken directly from footage from the upcoming season, featuring Loki and Mobius. This would make sense, given that what we know about season two, we can expect Kang to be a big part of the story.
Loki season 2 is a Marvel first
While television series’ have become a big part of the MCU since early 2021, when WandaVision was first released, this next season of Loki will actually mark a significant milestone in the MCU. It will be the first time that a Marvel series on Disney+ will get a second season.
Up to now, all of the Marvel shows have only worked as miniseries, with the final episode serving as the endpoint for the story being told. The first season of Loki was somewhat unique in the world of Marvel television, because it ended with a cliffhanger and a promise of a season two.
Now, two years later, Marvel will finally be getting to put out their first second season of a series. While no official release date has been announced, the second season of Loki is expected to debut on Disney+ sometime later this year.
