Paramount Plus: Is this the end of the road for Yellowstone?

Yellowstone first premiered on June 20, 2018, and has taken the world by storm ever since. Co-creator Taylor Sheridan’s modern-day western drama has grown into the success of being one of television’s best universes and it only seems to be growing.

Fans fell in love with tough but kindhearted John Dutton, played by the legendary Kevin Costner. It’s currently on its 5th season, but sadly it looks like season 5 will be the last.

But hold onto your horses because the universe of Yellowstone is not going anywhere. There are several spinoffs coming your way.

The ones we’ve seen already are 1883 and 1923, with the latter currently filming season 2 with the miraculous Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford. 6666 is an upcoming spinoff based on the 6666 ranch we have seen in the main show.

Matthew McConaughey will also be the lead in another brand-new Yellowstone spinoff. Taylor Sheridan is leaving no stones unturned.

We, of course, will miss the main cast but it’s very likely we will see them again. I would naturally pitch a Beth and Rip spinoff, because right now they feel like the heart of the show.

What is the status of Yellowstone season 5?

They are two characters who have put Yellowstone on the map. The super couple could keep all of Yellowstone’s faithful to a show. On May 3, ET reported that Kevin Costner would not be returning for the remainder of season 5.

It didn’t really come as a shock, as Kevin has been extremely busy filming his new project. And that has come at a price for filming Yellowstone.

Ever since the last episode aired, fans have been waiting in limbo for any news of when the hit show would return. They are still 5 more episodes left to film.

Just days after that report, news came out that season 5 would be the end of Yellowstone, which will air sometime in November, followed by another series coming out a month later. No more information has been given but we can only assume it to be Matthew’s new show.

It is unclear at this time if Kevin Costner will return to his role, as he is currently filming an epic western, Horizon. Directed and written by the actor, the movie depicts the story of a settlement in the American West pre-Civil War Era.

Because the Yellowstone universe is now so vast, the heart of the show will never be forgotten. It very much lives on in all these other spinoffs and Montana will still be the focal point in some of them.

There is no exact date for the return in November, but it will pick up where it left off. Beth Dutton has nothing but revenge on her mind as she sees Jamie as a liability.

In her eyes, he needs to take a trip to the train station. Not to mention Jamie is still trying to take down his father and become the Governor himself.

He seems to ask for a death wish every season, but has he gone too far this time? Will this in-family war be the demise of John Dutton?
