By Shay McBryde
The 2024 Golden Globe nominations are in and the Yellowstone universe will be largely represented this year. 1923 has been nominated along with some other huge contenders for Best Drama in television, along with the likes of The Crown, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, The Morning Show, and of course Succession.
Best television series (Drama):
- 1923
- The Crown
- The Diplomat
- The Last of Us
- The Morning Show
- Succession
Helen Mirren leads the way with her fantastic portrayal of Cara Dutton in the hit series; Paramount Plus1923. Bella Ramsey is also up for the award for Best performance by a female actor in a television drama series.
Will the legend Mirren be passing the torch to the next generation or will the Queen of pretty much everything, take home the glory? Ramsey is a generational talent who took the world by storm last year.
I do not envy being up against the great Helen Mirren. Sarah Snook also had a groundbreaking performance as Shiv Roy in Succession.
But any of these phenomenal nominees is more than deserving of this award.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series (Drama):
- Helen Mirren— 1923
- Bella Ramsey— The Last of Us
- Keri Russell— The Diplomat
- Sarah Snook— Succession
- Imelda Staunton— The Crown
- Emma Stone— The Curse
Pedro Pascal is up for the nomination for Best male actor in a drama series, in what we will call the Succession category. Every male in this category is highly deserving, but this could be one of Pascal’s first big wins for Joel in The Last of Us.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Deries (Drama):
- Brian Cox— Succession
- Kieran Culkin— Succession
- Gary Oldman— Slow Horses
- Pedro Pascal— The Last of Us
- Jeremy Strong— Succession
- Dominic West— The Crown
The Yellowstone franchise has one more nomination to add under its belt. Lawmen: Bass Reeves is getting some credit where credit is due with David Oyelowo.
Oyelowo stars as the legendary lawman Bass Reeves and carries a masterful performance that is now being greatly recognized.
Best Performance by an Actor, Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television:
- Matt Bomer— Fellow Travelers
- Sam Claflin— Daisy Jones & the Six
- Jon Hamm— Fargo
- Woody Harrelson— White House Plumbers
- David Oyelowo— Lawmen: Bass Reeves
- Steven Yeun— Beef
David Oyelowo is not a newbie to the Golden Globes, as he had previous nominations for both Selma and Nightingale. This marks Oyelowo’s third nomination, but will third time be the charm?
