Reacher is the hit Prime Video series that brings Lee Child's novels to life as Alan Ritchson steps into the role of Jack Reacher. This former military police officer travels around and lives his isolated life, only stopping when a new case grabs his attention.

The show is a fast-paced and action-packed thrill ride that is elevated by its honorable yet brutal central hero. Reacher delivers just what fans are looking for, and those fans can find other great shows that meet those expectations. Like Reacher, these crime thrillers involve high-stakes cases, great action, and an unstoppable hero worth cheering for.

Bosch

Reacher is a lone wolf who plays by his own rules, and that is often what allows him to get results. Bosch has a similar protagonist who plays by his own rules, with Titus Welliver as Detective Harry Bosch. He is an old-school cop who isn't afraid to defy orders to get the job done, especially when it's personal.

Bosch is based on the novels by crime author Michael Connelly and very much has that old-school hard-boiled detective vibe. Like Reacher, Bosch is a hero whose toughness is impossible to shake. Once he is on the case, it's only a matter of time before the bad guys go down.

Jack Ryan Season 4
John Krasinski (Jack Ryan)

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan

Tom Clancy created one of the most beloved literary heroes with Jack Ryan, a character who has been played on the big screen by the likes of Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine. John Krasinski takes over the role of the brilliant and heroic CIA analyst in his first television series, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.

The Prime Video show is much more of a spy thriller with a more global scale compared to Reacher. While Ryan can certainly go into action hero mode, he is most similar to Reacher on an intellectual level, as both men are determined investigators guided by an unwavering sense of principles.

The Terminal List

The Terminal List

Jack Carr is another writer whose series of action-packed books was primed for a television adaptation. The Terminal List stars Chris Pratt as James Reece, a veteran who returns home from a traumatic mission only for his whole world to be torn apart. This sets him on a mission of revenge where no enemy is safe from him.

Reacher doesn't hold back on the violence, but it comes across as almost light-hearted compared to The Terminal List's dark and dour take. Like with Reacher, The Terminal List looks to become its own franchise on Prime Video with the spinoff. The Terminal List: Dark Wolf released last year.

THE OLD MAN -- “VIII” -- Season 2, Episode 1 (Airs Thursday, September 12th) -- Pictured: (l-r) Jeff Bridges as Dan Chase. CR: Bryan Cohen/FX.

The Old Man

Acting legend Jeff Bridges stepped into his first major television role in the underrated The Old Man. This spy thriller stars Bridges as Dan Chase, a former CIA operative living off the grid who must rely on his dormant yet effective skills when his former colleagues begin hunting him.

It is interesting to see a series like this with a character so much older than we typically see. However, Chase's age should not be held against him, as he is a deadly man when he wants to be, giving Reacher a run for his money in some of the fight scenes. Having an actor of Bridges' caliber and iconic status only makes the show more entertaining.

JUSTIFIED: CITY PRIMEVAL "City Primeval" Episode 1 (Airs Tuesday, July 18) Pictured: Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens. CR: Chuck Hodes/FX

Justified

While all of these shows, like Reacher, are based on novels, the source material behind Justified is a much different tone. Based on the character created by pulp novelist Elmore Leonard, Timothy Olyphant stars as Raylan Givens, a US Marshal who acts like an Old West lawman who stepped into the 21st century. He finds himself back in his hometown in Kentucky, where he encounters the local criminal element, including his old friend, Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins).

Reacher has more of a sense of humor than most of these other shows, and fans will appreciate Justified's witty dialogue and faithful adaptation of Leonard's hilarious work. However, it is also an intense crime thriller led by Olyphant as the supremely cool and confident hero.
