Last Seen just premiered on Apple TV on Sept. 9, 2026. Last Seen is based on the book, The Dispatcher, written by Ryan David Jahn.
The Australian series stars Patrick Brammall as Ian Ridley, an emergency dispatcher who suffered a horrible tragedy a decade earlier. Ian's daughter went missing 11 years earlier without a trace when she was just three years old. The series picks up when Ian receives a call about a body discovered near where his daughter went missing. A shocking revelation spins this story into an entirely new direction.
Now, it's not a man trying to clear his name after being convicted for the murder of his own son, like I Will Find You. But that description is basically straight out of the Harlan Coben playbook. Check out the trailer if you need a little more convincing!

Why Last Seen is the perfect thriller to watch right now
I don't know if everyone has been paying attention, but 2026 has been the year of Apple TV. We've seen so many good shows on Apple TV this year, and many more are on the way. Last Seen is the next in a long line of Apple TV originals fans need to watch right now.
I love a good thriller as much as the next person, and Last Seen is exactly that, a good thriller. I need to watch the full series to know just how good it is, but with the first two episodes out of the way, I can say that this is a super intriguing show that feels fresh. It wastes no time on boring storylines or useless information. This is a series where everything is important, and no detail is too small.
The premise is so interesting, too. We've seen so many stories about emergency dispatchers over the years, but this one feels like a fresh spin on that kind of story. It puts the protagonist right in a position to have access to key information that regular, average Joes wouldn't, and I'm sure that's going to go down a treat for Ian's supervisors as he gets even deeper into the mystery of his daughter's disappearance.
Brammall is fantastic in this show. He's giving a performance that reminds me so much of Sam Worthington, Richard Armitage, Michael C. Hall, and the other leads of Coben's Netflix shows over the years. If you're not familiar with his work, you'll be a fan after this, I promise. I was unfamiliar with Brammall's work until Netflix's Glitch, which was all the rage about a decade ago. He's also very good in Colin from Accounts.
New episodes of Last Seen air on Wednesdays on Apple TV. There are only six episodes in the season, so we only have four weeks before the finale airs on Oct. 7. I urge you not to fall behind on this series! It's going to be the one everyone is talking about in no time at all!
