It's been a long time coming, but Ginny and Georgia is finally back. The popular teen drama dropped all 10 episodes of its highly anticipated third season on Netflix on June 5, and fans didn't waste any time hitting play. As expected, the new season delivered on all the drama right out of the gate, and things just kept getting more and more intense with each episode.
That's why it doesn't come as a surprise that Ginny and Georgia season 3 had a massive opening weekend on Netflix. The new installment is simply a 10 out of 10 overall. Plus, fans had been waiting so long for it to be released that this also played a part in why so many rushed to binge it as soon as it dropped.
According to Variety, the third season of Ginny and Georgia was the most popular show on Netflix during the week of June 2 to June 8. It accumulated 17.6 million views starting from its release on June 5, making it the top-watched TV show on Netflix that week. What's even more exciting is that because of season 3's release, it also made people go back and watch the earlier seasons.
Season 1 got 3 million views and ranked No. 6 on Netflix’s English-language TV list that week, followed by season 2, which earned 2.5 million views and secured the No. 9 spot. This shows how the excitement around season 3 encouraged viewers to revisit the previous seasons, keeping the entire series trending across the platform.
However, despite Ginny and Georgia season 3's impressive opening week numbers, it still couldn’t quite match the breakout success of the Netflix crime drama series Adolescence. Adolescence was a new series released in March 2025, and it became very popular very quickly. In just the first four days of its release, the crime drama managed to pull in 24.3 million views. Because of this huge number of views, it was the most-watched show on Netflix during the week of March 10 to March 16. In other words, it was Netflix’s biggest hit for that week.
However, we didn’t bring up Adolescence’s success to take anything away from Ginny and Georgia season 3 because let’s be honest, 17.6 million views in just a few days is still a massive win. But it does highlight just how strong Adolescence’s debut really was. For a brand-new show with no built-in fanbase to outperform an already beloved hit like Ginny and Georgia is no small feat. It speaks to how much Adolescence resonated with viewers.
If you haven't checked out the latest season of Ginny and Georgia or watched all four episodes of the limited series Adolescence, we'd strongly recommend adding both to your Netflix watchlist ASAP.
