Carrie’s story is far from over, and now Prime Video has made it official.
On Thursday, Oct. 22, just two weeks after the show's release, Prime Video announced that Carrie will be getting a season 2.
Mike Flanagan's new adaptation premiered to positive reviews and has remained in Prime Video Top 10 since its release. The announcement came with a fun compilation video of several commentators saying they wanted season 2, and now it’s been happening.

The season 2 renewal news comes after Flanagan claimed, before the show premiered, that he had a “three-season plan” for the famous story. It seems like Prime Video approves of that plan.
While Carrie wasn’t a perfect, one-to-one adaptation of Stephen King's story, it still brought it to life for a new generation, especially with its use of social media. Each episode built on the last and made this version of Carrie, played by Summer H. Howell, even more sympathetic to what she went through (and almost made you root for her even more in the season 1 finale).
For those who know Carrie's story and are wondering how to continue it into a second season, there’s actually a lot they can do. As we said, this isn’t the same story we saw in the Carrie film or any adaptation after that. There's more potential.

Carrie season 2 could go a number of directions
With an official season 2 greenlit, fans have a lot of burning questions about what happens next. I think the biggest one is the inclusion of other telepaths in the world of Carrie, which the season alluded to throughout until it was fully confirmed at the very end.
Each episode opened with a narrator (Kate Siegel) speaking about women who had powers and were judged, persecuted, and oftentimes killed. Other times, it would be about how women who had these powers were seen as hysterical. Sometimes, they were even seen as fakes because there were so many out there. This all played into the very end, when it was revealed the narrator was actually a woman named Adelaide — who basically runs a cult of telepaths.
We see them a few times throughout the season — namely at the beginning, when one senses Carrie’s powers, and at the end, when two of them stop Amanda (Katee Sackhoff) from killing Carrie at the prom. But the very end of the season 1 finale features Adelaide slowly killing Margaret (Samantha Sloyan), then asking the girls to keep an eye out for Carrie.
Meanwhile, Carrie is on the road with Emaline (Thalia Dudek), who rescued her after her house collapsed, and seems to want to get her away from the telepaths. Why, we’re not sure. We also know Thalia is an A.P., or Astral Projector. That usually means you can project yourself into a room away from your physical body, but it seems Emaline was able to do it throughout the series and still become friends with Carrie, despite traveling a long distance.
However, another question is that in the prom scene of the finale, Emaline seemed to almost take control of Carrie, and an astral projector usually can’t do that. So, it’s quite strange, and I’m really hoping season 2 answers it.
We could also see the survivors of the terror Carrie caused that night, including two main characters: Sue (Siena Agudong) and Tina (Josie Totah). While Sue survives in the novels, we don’t really see the aftermath of what happened to her, aside from a few clips of her trauma. Tina also survives in the books, but we don't see her again as we did in the show.
This season could go many ways, and as someone who genuinely enjoyed every aspect of this series when it came out, I’m curious what happens next. For now, we can only wait and see. But if we’re lucky, we’ll get season 2 by this time next year. October 2027 sounds like a fun time for Carrie’s next installment.
You can watch all eight episodes of Carrie on Prime Video.
