We've been covering The Last of Us a lot here at Show Snob and for good reason. The HBO show, based on the popular video game of the same title, has received countless award nominations and is about to begin filming for season 2.
The story of how two unlikely characters with nothing in common, try to survive in the apocalypse from dangerous people and infected creatures, become a father-daughter duo, has changed the mindset of video game adaptations forever. It is possible for a video game to transcend and conquer other forms of media.
Therefore, it's no surprise to know season 2 has been greenlit, projected to follow the story (with some changes, we hope) of The Last of Us Part II. As we're covering season 2 casting news, we came across the Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations where lo and behold, The Last of Us has been nominated for four awards.
Will The Last of Us win any SAG awards?
These nominations are as follows:
1. Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series - Pedro Pascal/Joel
2. Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series - Bella Ramsey/Ellie
3. Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series - The Last of Us - Pedro Pascal/Joel and Bella Ramsey/Ellie
4. Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series - The Last of Us
Both Pascal and Ramsey have been dominating the award ceremony world with countless nominations but have yet to bring home a win. Will the SAG awards finally be their chance to shine while holding the coveted The Actor trophy?
As we hope to learn more about season 2, we're curious as to what some of your predictions are for the new season. What do you think will or will not happen, especially in regard to Joel?
Mark your calendars, the SAG awards stream on Netflix on February 24, 2024, at 8PM ET / 5PM PT. We wish all the nominees the best of luck!
