Even though we already enjoyed a new season of Shrinking on Apple TV this year and there have been plenty of other shows to keep us entertained, we can't help but want the comedy's next season as soon as possible. Thankfully, Apple renewed the series for season 4, which began filming in May 2026, shortly after season 3 finished its run this spring.
The cast and crew spent the summer filming Shrinking season 4, leaving fans excited for what's to come but itching for all of the latest updates. We have learned about casting additions and certain plot teases, but we have been waiting to hear about the status of production, and most importantly, when we can expect the new episodes to begin rolling out.
Shrinking season 4 wraps filming ahead of 2027 premiere
In case you missed it, Jessica Williams announced on Instagram on Oct. 18 that filming has officially wrapped on Shrinking season 4. The Emmy Award-nominated star posted a carousel of photos from the set of the series, mostly from around the Warner Bros. lot and the hair and makeup trailer, meaning there aren't any photos with her co-stars that give a first-look at the new season.
In the caption of her post, Williams wrote, "And that’s a wrappy poo on season 4!!! So thankful for this amazing cast and crew." She ended her caption with a simple expression of love for the show and didn't give anything away for the season or what's in store for Gaby. But the most important aspect of her post is the announcement that the biggest part of the production process has now been completed.
Shrinking season 4 will now go into post-production to prepare for its release in 2027. As a comedy series and one without extensive special effects, it's known to have a rather quick turnaround. We're one step closer to season 4 premiere, but we might have to wait a bit longer than we might have expected. Given the October wrap date, a release in January 2027 probably cuts it far too close.
Last season, Shrinking returned to Apple TV in late January, but season 3 wrapped filming in July. This time around, filming on the fourth season finished up in late October, which only gives the team about two months to finish up post-production to prep for a January release. Being so, that's probably not in the cards and the streamer will undoubtedly push the season into spring.
it's too soon to predict exactly when Shrinking season 4 will premiere, but late March at the earliest through early May 2027 is the likeliest range to anticipate. That would still bring the series back within one year of the season 3 finale in April 2026. As usual, the new season will be well worth the wait, especially since Bill Lawrence and the writing team have crafted a new story for the characters.
After completing the three-season arc about Jimmy's grief over his late wife, Shrinking will dive into new territory in season 4 with the full main cast returning to reprise their roles. There will be a two-year time jump to move the timeline forward, and the cast will also be joined by new additions Christian Slater, Karen Gillan, and Judith Light. See? That's worth the wait.
