We have some disappointing news about Lucky season 1 episode 7

Anya Taylor-Joy's Apple TV miniseries Lucky has been an exciting summer hit, but there's a bit of unfortunate news about the upcoming episode.

This summer, there have been a long list of incredible new streaming shows to keep us on the edge of our seats during the hottest days of the year. From binge-watching every second of Netflix's I Will Find You in one sitting to falling head over heels for the authentic coming-of-age tale in Prime Video's Sterling Point, it's been a great time for TV. Of course, that includes Apple TV's Lucky.

Anya Taylor-Joy headlines the electric miniseries from executive producer Reese Witherspoon, and since the premiere of Lucky back in July, we have been itching week after week to see what will happen to the titular character. She's come a long way from the cat and mouse chase that had her on the run at the start of the show, but the deadly trail has inevitably reached its end.

In last week's episode, Lucky and her father John found themselves coming to terms with the fact that there's no more running. Now teaming up with Rand and the FBI, their next move is to help the authorities apprehend Priscilla and Whittaker. As the unexpected altercation that concluded episode 6 reveals, that won't be easy, but that's not even the worst news about season 1 episode 7.

Lucky season 1 episode 7 is the miniseries' last episode

Unfortunately for viewers who were hoping there would be a few more episodes left to watch, Lucky season 1 episode 7 is the final episode of the season. While you let that sink in, prepare for even more bad news. Not only is it the last episode of the season, but it's also the last episode of the series. The seventh episode marks the show's series finale, as confirmed by Apple TV.

Apple refers to the episode, which is titled "All Good Things," as the series finale, which shouldn't come as too much of a shock. After all, Lucky has been marketed as a miniseries from the very beginning. Sure, limited series get renewed for season 2 all the time, even on Apple TV. (The streamer picked up Jennifer Garner's The Last Thing He Told Me for a second season.)

Still, it's possible that some fans might not have realized that Lucky was a miniseries or that the series finale was coming up this quickly. The final episode of Lucky airs on Wednesday, Aug. 19 on Apple TV, though the episode begin streaming much sooner for those in the United States. The episode drops on Apple TV at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on Tuesday, Aug. 18 in the US.

Following the seventh episode's release, there are no further episodes left to hit Apple TV. There is no eighth episode, and it's highly unlikely that the streamer will renew the miniseries for season 2. Sure, as previously mentioned, it's not abnormal for a limited series to be renewed, but Lucky has been telling a finite story all season, and the ending probably won't leave the door open for more.

Going into the series finale, Apple TV hasn't shared much about what to expect from the episode ahead of its premiere. The synopsis doesn't even give much away: "Everything is on the line as Lucky navigates an explosive confrontation." She's about to take on Priscilla and Whittaker in the hopes of becoming from the world of crime. But can she pull it off without further damage and death?

The penulatime episode concluded with John's life on the line as it became increasingly apparent that Priscilla and Whittaker were onto Lucky's deal with the FBI. There are lots of questions left to be answered, especially whether John makes it out alive and if Lucky gets the freedom she's fighting for. Tune in and see how it all ends on Wednesday, Aug. 19 on Apple TV.
