True Detective Season 2: How Long is too Long to wait?

facebooktwitterreddit

As we’ve recently been exploring, True Detective is fast approaching its supposed January premiere. At this rater, we’re certainly not going to hold our breath. The earlier date of next summer also doesn’t sit so well with us simply because its so far away. Who really wants to wait that long? How long is too long?

True Detective is still riding high from the success of season one, and that’s been going a long way. The fandom certainly hasn’t stopped creating wonderful things, but just how long can we expect that to last? It feels like we recently got a break in production info, but that information has so far not amounted to very much. After all, filming hasn’t actually started yet.

More from HBO

Slowly but surely, True Detective will leave the public consciousness. When season two premieres, whenever that may be, many viewers will return to see what could possibly follow-up the story of Rust and Marty. But there are also some that won’t, and the longer the wait between seasons the less people will return for the next.

After a while, people simply lose interest. HBO is treading a fine line here, and it’s a line that they’ve been on practically since the first season premiered. It’s even possible that we’ll be waiting into 2016, but hopefully that won’t be the case. If they can hammer down the final lead — assuming they haven’t already and aren’t just keeping it secret — production could possibly kick into high gear.

High gear is certainly what we’re hoping for at this point.
