True Detective May Not Premiere Until 2016

True Detective is one of the most talked about shows on television at the moment but it’s doing so without actually showing off any new episodes. We’re in the middle of the fall season and while shows like Boardwalk Empire, American Horror Story and others are showing off their new episodes, True Detective is seemingly dragging their feet.

What this is causing is mass panic among fans who want to see a new season of the show but are being met with empty promises about the production start date. It was first announced that September would be the start of production but that was pushed back to the beginning of October.

Once that came and went, the middle of October was cited as a premiere date — something that has now changed to we’ll shoot it when we shoot it.

All of this is starting to rather heavily suggest that the second season of True Detective may not premiere until 2016. Something like this would devastate fans but it wouldn’t be the first time a show took some time off before returning. AMC’s Mad Men took off over a year between seasons not that long ago and FX’s Emmy winning series Louie took off over  a year only to come back better than it has ever been.

That’s at least hope for true Detective fans that the hiatus the show seems to be on isn’t the worst thing ever but it’s super inconvenient to be dying for a product HBO seems to have no rush in getting back out there.
