Dwayne Johnson Featured in Ballers Poster

HBO released a new poster for their upcoming ComDramarty (comedy, drama, party) series Ballers featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Here’s the official synopsis for Ballers from HBO:

"‘Ballers’ is a new half-hour comedy series starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The first season begins its 10-episode run on June 21, 2015 at 10 pm. Looking at the lives of former and current football players, the show follows former superstar Spencer Strasmore as he gets his life on track in retirement while mentoring other current and former players through the daily grind of the business of football. Rob Corrdry, Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Donovan Carter, Troy Garity, Jazmyn Simon, and Arielle Kebble also star."

Ballers premieres on HBO, HBO Go, and HBO Now at 10 p.m. EST on June 21, immediately following the second season premiere of True Detective.

I don’t know how you feel, but this seems like a tailor-made role for Dwayne Johnson. He’s a really good actor, and I’m very interested to see if he can take Ball-ing to new heights.

HBO hasn’t gone there with a show like this since Entourage. Based on Entourage‘s success, it only makes sense to try and re-do that show with a slightly different perspective (actors vs. athletes).
