True Detective Season 2, Ballers, The Brink Premiere on HBO on Sunday
The countdown is almost over!
Only two more days until the highly anticipated Season 2 of True Detective hits HBO, HBO Now, and HBO Go.
For those who haven’t been keeping track, True Detective is an anthology series, which means each season is different from the previous season. So, if you didn’t see Season 1 of True Detective, you can still watch Season 2 without missing out on anything! (Except for Season 1 of True Detective, which was awesome!)
In True Detective Season 2, Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch star as four strangers who are forced to work together by a situation and circumstances out of their control.
I don’t want to give too much away about the series, but you should definitely be watching it this Sunday (6/21). Season 2 of True Detective premieres on HBO, HBO Now, and HBO Go at 9 p.m. EST.
In addition to the season premiere of True Detective, HBO’s new batch of shows, Ballers and The Brink, also premiere on Sunday night.
Ballers premieres at 10 p.m. EST, following the premiere of True Detective. The series stars Dwayne Johnson as a former NFL player turned financial planner who lives the lavish life of luxury with his clients.
According to most reports, Ballers is basically the professional athlete version of HBO’s series Entourage.
Following Ballers, at 10:30 p.m. EST, HBO will unveil their new dark comedy The Brink. The series stars Jack Black and Tim Robbins as two government official who work to stop the world from entering World War III.
Did I mention it was dark?
Of the three shows, I’m most excited for True Detective for obvious reasons, but I’m also really intrigued to see what HBO can do with all three of these shows. To me, there’s fantastic potential to make all three of these shows appeal to a different demographic. But, they’re also gambling a little by releasing two “genre comedies” back-to-back.
There’s always risk involved by trying to make great TV, and HBO is taking that chance with The Brink and Ballers. We’ll see if it pays off!
Remember: All HBO shows are release on HBO Go and HBO Now at the same time they air on HBO (Cable)!
