HBO NOW Hits Roku Devices
By Julie Kelly
The Roku family of devices always had a gaping hole in its channel and app offerings. As of this week, that hole has been filled. HBO Now is finally available on Roku devices. Prior to this week, Roku was the last major streaming device that didn’t offer HBO Now. Apple TV, Fire TV and Android all offered it.
First reported by Cord Cutters News, Roku announced that HBO Now would be available as of yesterday. The announcement coincides with Roku’s announcement of a new set-top box called the Roku 4. The Roku 4 has the same channel offerings of previous models, but also supports 4K streaming. The new device retails for $129.99 and will release on October 21.
“HBO NOW is a hit with consumers and we’re thrilled to make it available to millions of Roku customers,” said Jeff Dallesandro, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Digital Distribution and Business Development for HBO in a statement. “Bringing our programming to consumers through HBO NOW is a natural evolution for HBO, and partnering with a streaming leader such as Roku greatly extends the reach of our service as we usher in this next phase of innovation for our network.” – See more at: http://cordcuttersnews.com/confirmed-hbo-now-will-be-available-on-the-roku-4/#lightbox/1/

For $14.99 a month, subscribers to HBO Now get a live streaming channel of HBO, plus the on-demand offerings of HBO Go. HBO also offerers a 30-day free trial period.
