There Has Been no Word on True Detective Season Three For Six Months
It has been six months since True Detective season two ended and there has been no word on season three.
True Detective is in a state of extended hiatus, let’s say. We know from multiple sources at this point that it will be back for a third season. Nic Pizzolatto’s deal with HBO points to that, as does statements made by producer Steve Goiln. While that is certainly enough to put fans at ease, it is still unusual for a series to go silent for so long.

There hasn’t been any word from either HBO or Nic Pizzolatto on the state of True Detective season three. There’s nothing unusual about Pizzolatto shying away from the press, but it was a smart move on HBO’s part to take the heat for season two.
The current status of True Detective season three is a big question mark. It’s not difficult to imagine Nic Pizzolatto creating a new setup to move forward. In fact, it’s likely that season three is currently being worked on in secret. Does that make the silence exciting, or all the more frustrating?

Fans, however, are in no rush. True Detective has been granted extra time and patience, things that most shows don’t usually get. Part of that has to do with being on HBO, which doesn’t strictly have to adhere to a normal broadcasting schedule.

True Detective season three will be here when it’s done and ready, and nobody is going to be rushing it forward.
