Woody Harrelson’s “Triple 9” is Getting Fairly Average Reviews

Triple 9, the new action movie co-starring Woody Harrelson, isn’t doing terribly.

Woody Harrelson doesn’t get anywhere near as much attention as Matthew McConaughey does. We were gently reminded of this fact the other night when he poked fun at McConaughey for his gig as Lincoln spokesman. Triple 9 is Harrelson’s first major role after the end of the The Hunger Games, and so it is expected for there to be some renewed interest.

Reviews are starting to come in and they’re not so bad; it currently holds a 57 on Rotten Tomatoes. That may not sound like a ringing endorsement, but action movies tend to bring in big bucks but stay middle of the road when it comes to critical reviews. It may end up being a bit of a disappointment for John Hilcoat fans, who may be expecting his usual, slower, pace.

Most of the stars are on the promotion train at the moment, including Casey Affleck who stopped by The Late Show last night for a bizarre interview. Woody Harrelson, on the other hand, hasn’t really been getting out there.

It’s difficult to say what it would take for Woody Harrelson to get the same amount of interest as McConaughey, but his career wasn’t in the same pace as McConaughey’s when the first season of True Detective hit.

Much like Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson has a packed 2016, which includes the movies Now You See Me 2 and LBJ, in which he’ll be playing Lyndon B. Johnson.
