Will Nic Pizzolatto Talk About What Happened with True Detective Season Two?
HBO has taken the blame for True Detective season two, but what about Nic Pizzolatto?
If there is one thing that Nic Pizzolatto, the creator, writer, and showrunner of True Detective is known for, it’s privacy. Pizzolatto barred all press from the set of season two and hasn’t talked about True Detective in several months. He is currently following the path of the True Detective actors themselves, who also haven’t talked about their time on the series.

After Michael Lombardo publicly admitted what went wrong with season two, public perception has started to change. Now that viewers have been allowed to understand, at least somewhat, some of the issues that True Detective season two faced, the bashing has started to subside. It was a shrewd move on HBO’s part. One voice that has remained silent, however, is Nic Pizzolatto’s.

The man behind True Detective has seemingly been content to lay low and allow the dust to settle on its own. What else could he possibly have to add at this point? HBO has thrown themselves in the path of all the season two vitriol. The damage that was done to True Detective and its subsequent recovery has been without Pizzolatto’s input. That’s not such a bad position to be in.
It would be nice if Pizzolatto saw fit to talk about True Detective season two, but it’s not necessary. The entire mess has been cleaned up without him. He is now free to form season three at his own pace and Lombardo’s comments have given him more valuable goodwill from the fans. Season two will now be known as the one that was rushed by Nic Pizzolatto’s corporate overlords.
