Matthew McConaughey Puts his Weight Behind Leonardo DiCaprio for the Oscar
Matthew McConaughey delicately supports Leonardo DiCaprio finally winning an Oscar.
In case award shows just aren’t your thing, the Oscars will be held this Sunday. Not only that, but the Independent Spirit Awards will take place on Saturday. Basically, it’s going to be a big weekend. We already know which show Cary Fukunaga will be at, and Rachel McAdams has major stock in the Oscars this year. Matthew McConaughey, on the other hand, has no horse in either race. Sort of.
Matthew McConaughey won his Academy Award for Dallas Buyer’s Club, a film which helped Harold in the McConaissance. This year is without a doubt Leonardo DiCaprio, who has been in a huge number of worthy films but has never won an Oscar. The way the wind is currently blowing, it would a huge upset if he didn’t win.

The Revenant is a blisteringly difficult movie to watch, and DiCaprio gives one of the best performances of his career — if watching extreme human suffering is your thing. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Matthew McConaughey cast his vote for DiCaprio without exactly saying as much, instead choosing his words carefully:
"“He had a wonderful performance, and there’s really nothing he can do now. We’ll see Sunday night.”"
Matthew McConaughey and Leonardo DiCaprio worked together on Wolf of Wall Street, though McConaughey’s role fairly minimal. This year’s Academy Awards will be an exciting one, and we will personally be pulling for Rachel McAdams for Spotlight.
