Watch a new Trailer for Matthew McConaughey’s Kubo and the Two Strings
A new trailer for Matthew McConaughey’s arty new animated movie, Kubo and the Two Strings, is here.
In case you’ve missed it, 2016 is going to be the year of the animated Matthew McConaughey. The man has two animated films in the pipeline — take that, Bling — and they very opposite affairs. Sing features Matthew McConaughey as a koala running a talent show in a very typical animated style, while Kubo and the Strings is something different.
The newest trailer for Kubo and the Two Strings is here and it promises to be an emotional journey. Check it out:

Kubo and the Two Strings looks nothing like Sing, and thanks to the work of Laika studio. Unlike Sing, which promises a family friendly affair aimed primarily at younger children. Kubo, on the other hand, has touches of darkness that can clearly be seen in the above trailer.
Unlike the firs trailer, which really just gave a taste of what’s to come, this new trailer offers up a taste of the story. Matthew McConaughey doesn’t play the lead, but he is one of the main companions. He plays Beetle, a heroic pupil of Kubo’s long-lost father. McConaughey is a little easier to identify here than in the trailer for Sing, but he still doesn’t sound exactly like himself.
Next: Matthew McConaughey's Free State of Jones is delayed again.
It’s obvious that McConaughey’s specific drawl isn’t a fit for either of these movies. Fans of family friendly movies and those with a slightly darker edge will both get what they want this year, and isn’t that a beautiful thing?
