Watch the Trailer for the Fifth Season of Veep
The first trailer for the fifth season of Veep has finally arrived.
Veep is currently HBO’s top comedy and been a consistent award winner. That’s something that Vince Principals is going to attempt to challenge, though we’ll have the fifth season of Veep before Danny McBride’s new comedy. Yesterday HBO unleashed the first trailer for Veep season five and everything about it feels so good.
Look, Hugh Laurie!

Besides Hugh Laurie doing his House American accent, the trailer promises the usual political hijinks from Veep. That usually translates to an abundance of cursing and Jonah-bashing, and those two have always worked very well in the past.
It looks like President Meyer is going to have navigate a financial crisis this season as well as a relationship with John Slattery, famous for his role as Roger Sterling in Mad Men and as Ben Bradlee Jr. in Spotlight. Basically, Slattery can do no wrong.
This will be the first season of Veep without its original creator and showrunner behind it, though at least from the trailer that doesn’t seem to have slowed it down much. House of Cards recently went through a similar creative shakeup that did very little to rock the boat. It’s never great when a creator leaves a show, but it doesn’t have to turn out poorly.

The fifth season of Veep will premiere on the already packed date of April 24th, the same date that both Silicon Valley and Game of Thrones will premiere. If you’re doing anything else that Sunday night you may want to reconsider as all three of those shows will be what most of the entertainment conversation will be about on the following Monday.
