Anthony Hopkins Spoke Briefly About Working on Westworld

Westworld is coming soon, and Anthony Hopkins spoke briefly about it in a new interview.

Once upon a time, Westworld was a hype-monster over at HBO. That’s no longer the case, but that doesn’t mean that the show won’t be able to recover and be a fantastic sic-fi series. The cast is typically star-studded for a big budget HBO project, though it does include some newcomers. Anthony Hopkins is not one of those newcomers.

Anthony Hopkins, world-famous actor and 2nd best Hannibal (that’s right) talked to Variety about what he’s been up to recently. The focus of the piece is The Dresser, a drama for Starz, but It was inevitable that the conversation would turn to Westworld at some point. Hopkins casually says that he’s enjoying working on Westworld, but Variety doesn’t let him off that easy.

More from Show Snob

Hopkins compared his character to that of David Attenborough in Jurassic Park:

"I’ve enjoyed it. Do you remember “Jurassic Park,” the Richard Attenborough guy? I play that kind of man. He runs Westworld. What’s interesting about doing TV this way is I never know where the story is going. I play Dr. Ford who’s built Westworld and all these robots. He has total control over everything. But I’m not sure which way it’s going. I’m just a man obsessed. I don’t play evil parts."

The entire interview has that sort of rambling quality to it that can be seen above. Richard Attenborough in Jurassic World is a beloved role, so it’s exciting to see Anthony Hopkins describe himself as such. Hopkins has certainly played evil parts in the past, such as the Silence of the Lambs, so that kind of comes out of nowhere.

Unfortunately Hopkins has no more info on Westworld to report, but at least we know it’s coming soonish. The entire interview is worth a read and is actually almost a little surreal due to the way he jumps around.. Hopkins also refers to himself as a “grinch” when it comes to most modern movies, so there’s that.
