Stream The Night Of Early Starting Friday
HBO is letting viewers check out The Night Of early
It’s going to be a dark summer for HBO. Well, it’s technically always a dark time when Game of Thrones isn’t on the air, but this summer HBO will premiere their True Detective replacement new crime series, The Night Of. The Night Of is based on the British series Criminal Justice, and was once a passion project of The Sopranos’ James Gandolfini, though he didn’t get to see it come to fruition.
The first few looks at The Night Of that we’ve seen so far give reason to be excited. For those that won’t be able to wait until July 10th, HBO has announced a little treat. Beginning this Friday, July 24th, users of HBO GO and HBO NOW will be able to watch the first episode of the new miniseries.

The offer isn’t just exclusive to streaming services; On demand users and “affiliate portals” will also be able to get in on the goods. The Night Of stars John Turturro in a very different role that most are probably used to seeing him in. Turturro will play lawyer Jack Stone and can be seen in the latest trailer.
The series is set to be a deep dive into the New York justice system. Even though True Detective’s second season didn’t do well, critically speaking, it still brought in strong ratings. It’s possibly because of its success that HBO decided to premiere The Night Of in the summer.
Next: Game of Thrones actors could see a healthy raise.
The Night Of is booked for eight episodes and will only be a miniseries. The British original, Criminal Justice, aired over two years and for only ten episodes. It will be interesting to see if True Detective’s past success will help The Night Of, though it’s looking more and more like its own beast.
