Watch the new Trailer for High Maintenance
HBO has released the full trailer for the upcoming High Maintenance
It feels like weed comedy is having a sort of renaissance. Between Broad City and the upcoming High Maintenance, this potential subgenre of comedy is doing fairly well. High Maintenance is about a pot dealer in New York City, focusing on his life and the lives of those he services. He’s not your stereotypical guy on the street — he’s got a real business going.
HBO recently released a teaser for High Maintenance, but this is the first time we’re seeing a full trailer. Without further ado:

The trailer introduces us a little more to the world of a fairly well-off, mobile weed delivery man. Surely there’s a better name for it, but there you go. As The Guy puts it (that’s how he’s referred to in the show) he just bikes around selling weed. There’s something very The Big Lebowski about the simplicity of his life. The best shows about weed are those that don’t wrap themselves in the culture; they’re easily digestible by anyone with a sense of humor. Going by the first trailer, High Maintenance looks to be one of them.
HBO is promoting High Maintenance as a new comedy series, but it’s important to keep in mind that they have only picked it up for six episodes. If it does well they could extend the season, though it’s more likely that it will get renewed instead. The fact that they’re not calling it a miniseries is a good sign that they would be interested in more.
Next: Jennifer Lopez will star in a new HBO film.
That may prove to be bit of a challenge, as High Maintenance has been given the odd spot of Friday night instead of the usual Sunday. It’s not clear how well it’s going to have to do before HBO decides that it is worth renewing.
