Will Game of Thrones be at Comic Con next Year?
Don’t expect the same showing from Game of Thrones at Comic Con
There are a few hard rules about Comic Con: get in line early, bring supplies, and Game of Thrones will have an impressive showing. The Game of Thrones panel has been a mainstay at Comic Con for the past several years and proves to be one of the most popular events on offer. But that may not always be the case.
Game of Thrones only has two seasons left, but there is a small bump in the road that may derail further Comic Con appearances.

First off, let’s get this out of the way — we’re talking about San Diego Comic Con. A full Game of Thrones panel has never graces the halls of any other Comic Con, though actors have been known to make appearances. It’s just not the same thing. HBO and Game of Thrones goes all out for San Diego Comic Con. The seventh season of Game of Thrones was recently pushed to the summer, leaving any Comic Con plans up in the air.
Check out footage of this year’s panel below:
By the time SDCC roles around Game of Thrones has usually been off the air for a couple of months. This time, however, the season might not have even aired yet or it could be in the middle. That would make doing a panel a bit problematic, as the actors won’t be able to talk about events that are either currently unfolding or haven’t happened yet. Nobody wants to see that panel.
Next: Seinfeld and Veep and Silicon Valley.
This last Comic Con may have seen the final Game of Thrones panel. If that turns out to be the case, it’s a little sad. There’s no doubt that HBO will continue to roll out the red carpet for Game of Thrones in general for SDCC going forward, but its full glory days may be behind us.
