The new Westworld Poster Means Business
HBO has unveiled the new Westworld poster
It’s hard to come with another show has highly anticipated as Westworld is. There is so much creative juice flowing through the production that it doesn’t feel likely that it will fail. It also happens to signal the potential future of sic-fi on HBO and beyond, so, you know, no pressure. Now we finally get to see the first official Westworld poster.

Now that’s a looker. It’s reminiscent of both Terminator and the work of Issac Asimov. The poster gives nothing away but it does create an intriguing image. It’s the perfect companion to the recently released new trailer, which is a work of art by itself.

Westworld is going to be the show to make the wait for Game of Thrones all the more tolerable. A best case scenario would be that it even makes us forget about the summer delay in the first place. HBO needs something to follow Game of Thrones‘ footsteps even though it’s not ending for another two years. Westworld has a real shot at being that show, and it has the talent behind it to back it up.
The new Westworld poster wants very much to remind viewers that this is a show about androids, a topic that has long been saved for novels and movies. I would frankly be heartbreaking if this ended up being a Vinyl situation — an expensive show that looked great but couldn’t get off the ground. With J. J. Abrams and Jonathon Nolan behind it, that’s not very likely.
Next: Danny McBride will be on The Late Late Show.
When Game of Thrones premiered it felt like something new; like TV fantasy had never been done on that scale. Westworld has the potential to do the same for sci-fi, and the above trailer is reminiscent of the feelings of awe that Game of Thrones is capable of. We’ll find out if Westworld is truly worthy when it premieres in October.
