Evan Rachel Wood talks about what it’s like to play a Host on Westworld. Assuming she isn’t one already.

Long before the series actually debuted, Evan Rachel Wood become the unofficial voice of Westworld. Now she’s out there in earnest repping the show, not that it needs much help in that department. Last night she went on The Tonight Show to talk about Westworld and how she gets into the whole android mindset.

To help her and the other actors get into the spirit of playing androids they coined the term “bot thoughts,” which are basically just questions about the characters. It’s not abnormal for actors to wonder about their character, but Evan Rachel Wood puts something of a new spin on the concept. Also a quite funny one.

The final part of the interview is about Wood’s band, Rebel and a Basket Case. Didn’t know she started a band? You’re in good company.

Wood doesn’t tease any future developments on Westworld, though that’s not all that surprising. It may stuff every episode with ideas and new questions, but that doesn’t mean the producers want to spill any beans on a late night talk show. She does, however, settle the question of whether or not the series takes place in the future or in an alternate version of modern times. We don’t know in what year Westworld takes place, but we do know that the Man in Black has been attending for at least 30 years. So that’s something to chew on.

Next: Westworld is all about the concept of easter eggs.

Evan Rachel Wood as Dolores is one of the high-points of the show, and her robotic acting is wonderfully convincing. It must have something to do with all of those so-called “bot thoughts.”
