The Eagles of Death Metal will be the Focus of a new HBO Documentary

Nos Amis will document Eagle’s of Death Metal after the Paris club attack.

Netflix is quickly becoming one of the best places to watch compelling documentaries, but HBO still has the edge in this department. HBO has produced a high number of award-winning documentaries over the years, and it’s part of what makes the network great and unique. The next big doc to hit HBO will be Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis (My Friends,) which will chronicle the state of Eagles of Death Metal after the tragic attack at the Bataclan club in Paris last year.

HBO announced earlier today that the new doc will premiere in February of next year and will be directed by Colin Hanks. Hanks has a history with music documentaries, having directed All Things Must Pass, a film about Tower Records. The film will being with the attack and will follow the band over the course of a year as they deal with the fallout and eventually return triumphantly to Paris.

Eagles of Death Metal were on stage during the attack that would claim 89 lives. It’s an event that feels frozen in time; it feels both so close yet distant. It occupies a space of unreality that is unique to these sorts of sudden tragedies. It’s impossible to imagine what has gone through the minds of the band since then, so hopefully Nos Amis will open that door a bit.

After the attack Eagles of Death Metal launched a charity campaign in which the proceeds for bands covering their song “I Love you all the Time” would help aid those affected and their families.
