Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9 adds to the cast
Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen join Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9.
Curb Your Enthusiasm, perhaps HBO’s most celebrated comedy, was revived in a way perfect in line with the show; Larry David pretty much said “yeah, ok.” And off we went. HBO put together an announcement, and Curb Your Enthusiasm season 9 was born. Since then we haven’t heard all that much about the new season, though we are still expecting it sometime in 2017.

Today marks the first bit of news from the new season. Deadline is reporting that both Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen will be joining the main cast. Danson, a television mainstay, was excellent in last year’s second season of Fargo. Fans of Curb will know that this isn’t Danson and Steenburgen’s first time on the series — they both appeared in season one and across the rest of the series.
Apparently their appearance on Curb had to be worked around their other commitments (Danson is on The Good Place and Son of Zorn while Steenburgen is on The Last Man on Earth.) Since season 9 wasn’t going to go on without them, it’s possible that filming has been delayed somewhat to accommodate their respective schedules. Not that it would have made much of a difference if that were true, as Curb Your Enthusiasm season 9 has been on something of a fast track since its announcement.
Here’s Ted Danson on Live with Kelly from earlier this month:
While this announcement isn’t exactly a surprise, it is nice to that both of them will be returning. We haven’t gotten any word on any special guests, though the regular cast is all expected to return. Curb is a legacy show for HBO, though when it comes to long-running (and award-winning) comedies, Veep is settling in to give it a run for its money.
