The Final Season of Girls is Coming in Early 2017

Girls’ final season will premiere in February.

Girls is a show that hasn’t had an easy time of it. There have been five seasons of ups and downs, and there is an argument to be made that it never really got the recognition that it has deserved. It’s possible that award voters will come around for the final season, but we’ll see. At least we now know that we’ll be wrapping up the stories of Hannah and her friends in February.

This comes from a social media blast from the official Girls account. Unfortunately they chose not to share a teaser at the same time, so we’re going to have to wait a little longer for that.

We’ll see the sixth and final season of Girls on February 12th, not too far off from past seasons’ January state date. Short clips of season six can be seen in a promo that HBO has been running about their 2017 slate. Don’t worry, best character Elijah will be back.

Girls has gotten into a habit of making us believe that these characters have made breakthroughs in growth only to have them implode. It has happened multiple times in almost every season. Now that it’s time to bring everything to a close, maybe we’ll actually see some real growth. Or maybe we won’t, and there doesn’t have to be anything wrong with that. As long as Jessa and Adam can stay together we’ll be happy.

Next: Holly Hunter will be in Alan Ball's new HBO series.

Considering that February is only a few short months away, expect to hear more bout Girls soon — possibly in the coming weeks. Hopes are high for the final season, but we do wish that Shosh was still in Japan. Ah, well.
