The First real Game of Thrones Season 7 Promo is Here
Jon, Dany, and Cersei are all after one thing. Oh, and White Walkers are here too.
It feels like we’ve been waiting a long time for this, but now it’s finally here. The first trailer for Game of Thrones season 7 dropped today, expanding on the previous teaser that we were treated to. The promo is called The Long Walk, and features the current major players and nobody else. Let’s just get to it:

Dany and Cersei are both seen taking the throne, though Dany’s is quite different from the Iron Throne that we’re accustomed to. It’s likely that the version that she sits in is more Targareon flavored, which makes sense. The promo also features a few shots of Jon Snow’s scarred face. Tellingly, Cersei’s exhale lets us know that the White Walkers are coming, a menace that has never been taken seriously by Cersei or anyone else in King’s Landing. There is no Arya or Bran here – this is all about those that are fighting (or will fight) for control of the Seven Kingdoms. That doesn’t, apparently, include Sansa. Sansa would probably be happy just to rule the North and control Winterfell, though right now Jon Snow is the favorite for that position. Ouch.
Jon has not expressed interest in being a ruler, but events may force him to get involved. He is the only one that is truly aware of the White Walkers, and he and Dany are in the best positions to fight back. It wouldn’t be surprising if Cersei ends up being killed by the menace that she has spent the entire series ignoring, but we could be wrong.

The promo does not show us any in-season footage – this is all stuff that was shot specifically for the promo. It is basically another hype/mood trailer, but there’s nothing wrong with that. There is still plenty of time for HBO to break out the big guns in time for the Game of Thrones season 7 premiere later this July.
