Iron Chef is the greatest and most elaborate cooking competition in the world. There is no higher honor for a chef than being called to compete in Kitchen Stadium by the chairman himself. Iron Chef and Iron Chef America have been on a hiatus for a few years, but all that changes this weekend.
Iron Chef America is back and they are looking for the next Iron Chef. Iron Chef’s Michael Simon, Bobby Flay, and Masaharu Morimoto are looking for their next pier. Over the course of the season, seven chefs will compete to see who’s cuisine will reign supreme.
If you’re thinking Iron Chef is anything like a regular cooking show you’re sadly mistaken. This isn’t chopped, this is the very best chefs in the world taking food to a whole new level. You won’t see the same silly mistakes you’re used to seeing in Guy’s Grocery Games, this is a contest looking for perfection.
What’s the best part of Iron Chef Gauntlet though? When this series is complete it will lead into a brand new season of Iron Chef America. There’s been no official announcement, but how could you crown a new Iron Chef and then not have a new season of Iron Chef America?
The previews have been sparse, we haven’t seen much other than Flay, Simon, and of course Masaharu Morimoto. We do know that Alton Brown is back as host, but we haven’t seen the chairman yet.
Iron Chef Gauntlet premieres on The Food Network tonight, Sunday, April 16th at 9 PM EST.
