Are we going to see the older version of Melisandre in Game of Thrones season 7?
Will we see the older version of Melisandre in Game of Thrones season 7? The actress who portrays her may have given us a clue.
One of the more shocking twists in Game of Thrones season 6, was when the Red Priestess, Melisandre, removed her necklace and revealed that she was actually a very old woman. Here’s the big reveal:
It was a moment that fans of the show were not expecting, and it revealed the fact that Melisandre truly has some sort of magical powers. Recently, the actress who portrays Melisandre on Game of Thrones (Carice van Houten), posted a curious photo on Twitter, showing her in the makeup of an old crone.

With the filming of season 7 already done, and with the show premiering on July 16, it is entirely possible that the actress was messing around with her fans. However, this could also be a photo taken during season 7 filming, and we might see the old crone version of Melisandre during the seven episode slate.
With Jon Snow banishing the Red Priestess from the North, in the season 6 finale, and with Davos Seaworth threatening her that he would carry out the execution himself, should she ever return, Melisandre is alone, with no one to serve.
There are several reasons we may see the old crone version of Melisandre in season 7. She might cross paths with Arya Stark (who has sworn to kill her), or she could run into the Brotherhood Without Banners, where her fellow Red Preist, Thoros of Myr is.
Either way, that reveal in season 6 was definitely a nice twist, and we can’t wait to see what Game of Thrones has in store for season 6.
