Empire Magazine spread reveals even more Game of Thrones season 7 secrets
By Corey Smith
Empire Magazine reveals some in-depth secrets from Game of Thrones season 7.
Today, June 16 marks the one-month countdown to season 7 of Game of Thrones, which is good news for two reasons. The first is, of course, only one month separates us from the return of the greatest show on Earth. The second is that as we inch closer to its return, Game of Thrones spoilers become even harder to suppress. Case in point, the upcoming preview issue of Empire Magazine. Spoilers follow.
Though the reveal of Jon Snow’s birth name still remains the biggest shocker of the spread, there are some other bits that are almost as exciting if one reads between the lines. Our first shot, however, is a simple image of Jon (Jaehaerys) Snow (Targaryen) along with Cersei and Tyrion Lannister.

Pretty. Next up we have a shot of Daenerys, Bran Stark, the Night King and one of Dany’s dragons.

Now comes the meaty stuff though. In the next page, we have several actors touching on their character’s arcs in season 7.

The bit about actor Rory McCann fighting in full armor (and weeping upon receiving a cooling vest from Cunningham) seems rather interesting. Cleganebowl confirmed? Get hype!
Jaime and Cersei’s opposing color choices in their outfits implying friction between the two is also a nice point. We saw Jaime’s face upon returning to King’s Landing only to find Cersei on the Iron Throne and their last child dead (Tommen). Jaime did not look happy then, and it seems that theme will carry into season 7. Jaime as Hand of the Queen? That’s a nice throw back to the time Robert Baratheon threatened to make Jaime his Hand in season 1.
Our last image is perhaps the juiciest.

Where to even begin? First up, John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) mentions being cast into the “wilderness) meaning he’ll likely not be reuniting with Jon anytime soon.

Empire does mention Sam will likely be spending time with Marwyn the Mage played by Thrones newcomer, Jim Broadbent. Marwyn is a book character we’ve yet to see, who is a slightly off-kilter maester.
Fun Fact: Marywn trained Mirri Maz Dur in healing in the books, the healer who stole Dany’s unborn child and left Khal Drogo a vegetable way back in season 1.
Although we learned from the season 7 trailer that Melisandre would be returning, her appearance on Dragonstone was quite the shock. According to Empire, Melisandre is “regaining her strength.” Bad news for all the teenage princesses out there.
Melisandre might not be the worst one out there though, as according to Pilou Asbæk Euron Greyjoy might just take the psycho cake. (Look at us rhyming unintentionally.)
"The psychos I’ve encountered have so many different sides to them. So each scene I’ve done with Euron, I pick a new thing I wanna show. ‘This scene I want to be charming.’ ‘This scene I wanna be a molester.’ ‘This scene I wanna kill someone.’ After this season, Ramsay’s gonna look like a little kid."
Well now were are truly worried. Worse than Ramsay? How’s that even possible?

All of these reveals pale in comparison to Bran’s knowledge of Jon’s birth name of course, but they are fascinating hints nonetheless. This is going to be the longest month of our lives.
