HBO has provided the first look at the second season of Issa Rae’s comedy “Insecure,” which returns this summer.

HBO’s critically acclaimed series Insecure is slated to debut season 2 less than a year after its series premiere next month on July 23rd. Given that the new season is premiering so soon, it comes as no surprise that HBO has released a teaser trailer to get fans excited about the new episodes.

Insecure, created by Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore, follows two modern-day black women  — Issa Dee (Rae) and her attorney best friend Molly Carter (Yvonne Orji) — as they navigate work life and the dating scene in LA. The first season, which concluded last November, received rave reviews from critics, scoring 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and earning Rae a Golden Globes nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.

The just-released clip to the tune of Calvin Harris’ “Slide” doesn’t include any new footage, but instead it gives us a glimpse at the characters who are expected to be back for the upcoming second season, including fan favorite Lawrence (Jay Ellis), Issa’s unemployed boyfriend throughout the first season.

But from the looks of things, don’t get too excited about the couple rekindling their relationship anytime soon after Issa’s infidelity with her ex, Daniel (Y’lan Noel). The pair have a literal barrier between them in the form of a throw pillow with the words “hella confused” on it as they solemnly sit on a couch. But despite their breakup, Lawrence will continue to get plenty of screen time as the show expands to include more of his own storylines.

“A lot of our stories last year were Lawrence and Issa dependent and now that they’ve broken up, we’re able to see more of his life, his world,” Insecure co-executive producer Prentice Penny told Deadline.

Also seen are a flirtatious Daniel, who causes Issa to feel “hella tempted,” as well as her small group of friends, including Kelli (Natasha Rothwell) and Tiffany (Amanda Seales), who have both been promoted to series regulars after recurring in season 1. Watch the teaser trailer below:

The show will have a larger platform thanks to its new time slot airing on the same night as Game of Thrones after Dwayne Johnson’s hit comedy Ballers, which is also entering its sophomore season. Last season, Insecure aired alongside fellow rookies Westworld and Divorce.

Insecure season 2 premieres Sunday, July 23rd at 10:30 p.m. ET on HBO.
