“This Is Us” promotes two cast members for season 2

This Is Us is adding two more to the ensemble for next season with the recent promotion of two of their recurring cast members.

Alexandra Breckenridge and Jon Huertas will be returning to This Is Us this fall as series regulars to round out an already impressive cast.

Breckenridge joined midway through Season 1 as the ex-wife of Kevin (Justin Hartley) as well as his first love. Considering the two reignited their relationship at the end of last season, her return to This Is Us, comes as no surprise. While she hasn’t been seen that much, her character Sophie quickly warmed audience’s hearts because of her heartbreaking relationship.

Huertas, on the other hand, has been a part of This Is Us, from the start of the series as a major player in the Pearson family. The best friend of Jack (Milo Ventimiglia), and future husband of Rebecca (Mandy Moore), he has a tense relationship with his step-kids. Unlike Breckenridge, he has appeared in multiple timelines, both when Jack was alive and afterward.

Unfortunately, his status within the Pearson family has made him one of the “villains” of the show for viewers who see his marriage to Rebecca to be a violation of his friendship with Jack.

This Is Us has yet to reveal how everyone’s favorite father died which makes the circumstances revolving around Rebecca’s and Miguel’s relationship and consequently marriage is a bit murky. Love him or hate him, Miguel will be back for Season 2.

Neither promotion comes as a big surprise considering both are important characters in their own right. With many stories still left for the hit NBC

show to tell, there is sure to be more heartbreak for everyone in the future.
