The White Princess’ Jodie Comer joins BBC America series Killing Eve

Jodie Comer will join Sandra Oh in BBC America’s latest project, “Killing Eve.”
English actress Jodie Comer has been cast as the lead in BBC America’s upcoming eight-episode series, entitled Killing Eve. Deadline reports that The White Princess actress will star alongside Sandra Oh in the new thriller, which follows a talented assassin and the woman tasked with tracking her down.
Based on Luke Jennings’ Villanelle novellas, Killing Eve will be written and executive-produced by writer-actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), who will also serve as showrunner. Comer’s character is described as “an elegant, talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her.” She’ll face off against Oh’s desk-bound security services operative who’s fantasized about working as a spy.
BBC America president Sarah Barnett said in a statement:
"Jodie Comer is amazing and will capture the precise, genius psychopathy of the character Villanelle. With Sandra Oh playing her foil and Phoebe Waller-Bridge as creator, there is a boatload of brilliance fueling this new show."

The project is BBC America’s latest foray into original programming following the success of the critically acclaimed Orphan Black, a collaboration with Canadian network Space, which has earned a dedicated following throughout its five-year run. The sci-fi drama is currently airing its final season.
Comer previously starred in the network’s miniseries Thirteen, for which she received a BAFTA nomination. She also stars in the BBC drama Doctor Foster
but is perhaps best known for playing Elizabeth of York in Starz’s The White Princess, an adaptation of Phillippa Gregory’s novel of the same name.
The limited series was a sequel to The White Queen, a co-production between the premium cable network and the BBC. Despite stellar ratings, the historical drama will not return for a second season, nor are there any further plans to adapt more of Gregory’s books at the moment.
Killing Eve is expected to premiere in 2018 on BBC America.
