Broad City season 4 release pushed to September

Earlier this summer, Comedy Central dropped a trailer for the 4th season of Broad City, ending with the announcement of an August premiere date.

Sorry to be a downer, but it looks like you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer to catch up with Abbi and Ilana on Broad City, as a new short sheds some light on when the actual season 4 premiere will happen.

A new episode of their web short, “Hack into Broad City” was posted Thursday. In it, Abbi and Ilana prepare for July 4th by having a hot dog eating contest via webcam. Abbi actually decides not to participate this year, but Ilana goes for it. I won’t spoil the ending for you – you’re welcome.

The end of the short does let us know that new episodes of Broad City will be back September 13th, three weeks later than the date initially announced. At the time, some expressed that late August also felt a little delayed from reports that the show would be back for summer 2017.

It’s unclear what might be the cause of the delay. We do know that the show’s cast has been busy lately, with Ilana starring in the film Rough Night and Abbi starting a new art podcast, created through a partnership between the Museum of Modern Art and the radio station WNYC.

Whatever the reason, here’s hoping that we can all float blissfully into fall with more Broad City. What do you think of the delay? Let’s discuss in the comments below.
