When George R.R. Martin published the first book in A Song of Ice and Fire — A Game of Thrones — 21 years ago, fans began to dream of the day when Ice (Jon Snow) would meet Fire (Daenerys Targaryen). And, on Sunday night, July 30, during Game of Thrones episode 704, “The Queen’s Justice,” it finally happened.

As you could see in the episode, the two didn’ initially like each other. Dany wanted Jon to bend the knee and swear fealty to her, recommitting to the pact his ancestor Torrhen Stark made with Aegon “The Conqueror” Targaryen when he conquered the Seven Kingdoms.
Jon, as the new King in the North, refused, knowing that his subjects back at Winterfell would not take kindly to his laying down the crown they bestowed upon him for the daughter of the Mad King. Plus, no one does honor and duty better than Jon Snow.
Hopefully, as season 7 draws closer to the end, we will see these two monarchs begin to warm to each other and decide that it is in their best interest to work together. Plus, you know, Jon Snow is totally half Targaryen, so they have much more in common than either of them realize.
