On Sunday night, Game of Thrones season 7 will reach its halfway point, and that point will be marked by the shortest episode of the season.

Game of Thrones season 7 is a mere seven episodes long. That’s three fewer episodes than the previous six seasons. And, on Sunday evening, when episode 704, “The Spoils of War” airs, we will have reached the official halfway point of this season.

But here’s the rub: Episode 704 will only be a paltry 50 minutes long, making it the shortest of the season, and according to HBO landing it along side the season 6 premiere, “The Red Woman,” as the two shortest episodes of the series.

But that’s okay, folks, because although episode 704 is only 50 minutes in length because showrunner David Benioff told Entertainment Weekly before season 7 started that there would be a supersized episode ahead.

"One [episode] will be our longest episode ever — it’s coming in around 90 minutes. Another is going to be our shortest episode at 50 minutes."

Still, though, fans of the show should not fear for the short length of “The Spoils of War,” as the episode was accidentally leaked by an HBO affiliate and we’ve seen it. And, without spoiling the episode for you, we can say with full confidence that it is one of the best episodes of the series.
