Issa, Molly and Lawrence face some tough choices in the “Insecure” season 2 finale.

It’s been a predictably messy and chaotic second season for the main characters of Insecure — Issa, Molly and Lawrence — as they all attempt to juggle their personal and professional lives with ease.

With the eight-episode season coming to a close on Sunday, all three will have to make huge decisions that are likely to have major repercussions for their respective futures. And for Issa and Lawrence, that means concluding whether that future will be together or apart.

The synopsis for the season 2 finale, titled “Hella Perspective” reads:

"“Over the course of one pivotal month, Issa (Issa Rae), Molly (Yvonne Orji) and Lawrence (Jay Ellis) face choices affecting their work and personal lives, with each considering whether to embrace a new future or look back to the past.”"

Those decisions come after what proved to be a pivotal dinner party for the trio in episode 7 last week. The event saw Issa and Lawrence come face-to-face for the first time since having sex in the season 2 premiere. Issa was immediately irked by Lawrence’s decisions to attend Derek’s birthday dinner with co-worker Aparna, resulting in a big blow out fight outside where they each called each other out for past transgressions.

Issa brought up his short-lived fling with Tasha and his inability to get a job while they were together, while Lawrence admitted he blocked her on Facebook due to her continued relationship with Daniel, who she cheated on him with, before calling her out for being a hoe.

Meanwhile, Molly’s awkward encounter with Dro’s wife Candice and their bathroom hook up led her to realize that she wasn’t feeling the situation anymore, presumably cutting off ties with her childhood friend for good.

As seen in the promo for episode 8, things remain complicated for Molly at work, where the revelation that she was earning less money than a white male counterpart led her to seek offers from other law firms after seeking advice from Chicago colleague, Quentin (Lil Rel Howery). Regarding the decision, Kelli (Natasha Rothwell) asks if she’s going to “stay with the whites or going with the blacks,” advising against the latter because “they get too comfortable.”

The clip also shows Lawrence getting even closer to Aparna, but he receives a phone call from Issa and is seen arriving in front of her apartment building, suggesting there’s a chance for a reconciliation.
