Chandler Riggs says Carl is ready for war in The Walking Dead season 8
The Walking Dead season 8 premieres worldwide this Sunday, October 22, and star Chandler Riggs says his character Carl is ready for the war that is coming.
Chandler Riggs’ character on The Walking Dead, Carl Grimes, has definitely seen his fair share of highs and lows. A first he was an annoying, bratty kid who couldn’t seem to stay in the house (TWD joke) and then he decided to become a stone-cold killer by killing a wounded member of the Governor’s group during its attack on the prison.
Now, Carl’s all grown up, and missing an eye, but hey, that’s not deterring him from literally taking the fight to Negan, as last season he snuck into the Savior’s compound to assassinate the bat-wielding bad guy. As we now know, that didn’t go as planned, but Negan ended up harboring a sort of respect for Carl.
But, how will far will that respect go in season 8, when Rick and Negan battle in the comic’s storyline, “All Out War”? Riggs’ talked to Entertainment weekly and gave some insight on what fans can expect from Carl, this season.

For instance, will Carl’s inside knowledge of the Saviors’ compound come into play?
"I definitely think so. He and Daryl are among the few people that know the ins and outs of the Sanctuary and know where everything is, where everyone is, so I definitely think it will be useful this season because not a lot of people know about it."
On Carl’s relationship with Enid, Riggs expounds on the bond the two share.
"They know how war works. They know that it’s possible that they could lose one another. So I think part of them doesn’t want to get too attached because they don’t want to get heartbroken again to see someone else get taken away from them. But, there’s definitely a lot of possibility and a lot of room to grow. Of course, there has to be something that comes after the war. So there’s a lot of hope."
Oh, so maybe Enid and Carl help repopulate the earth once the war with Negan is over? Nah, this is The Walking Dead and nothing is ever that nice.
